Mental and emotional challenges can be overwhelming—they often impact your ability to connect with others, feel the Spirit, and contribute in society. But for those struggling, there is hope. By utilizing resources, relying on the Savior and others, and seeking professional treatment when appropriate, you can increase your resilience and deepen your capacity to experience joy.

    Managing Mental Health

Mental health challenges can affect anyone at any time and should be met with love and understanding. If you need help managing your mental health, consider these key principles:

    • Acceptance: Recognize that healing may come in stages.
    • Empathy: Focus on becoming more like the Savior and receiving His divine empathy.
    • Support: Seek help when needed and understand that mental health struggles are not a sign of weakness.

    Suicide Prevention and Ministering

Suicide is a deeply complex and painful issue. If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide, please reach out to someone who can provide the right help. The Church also has resources for helping individuals in crisis that teach how to:

    • Identify risk factors and warning signs.
    • Find immediate resources for those in crisis.
    • Turn to the Savior for peace and hope.

A spouse, child, sibling, or friend who has lost a loved one by suicide may experience intense pain or grief. If you have been affected by a loved one’s suicide or suicide attempt, consider the resources available to you such as grief support groups, health care professionals, and other community resources.

Dealing With Death, Grief, and Loss

    • Preventing abuse
    • Responding to abuse
    • Supporting victims of abuse
